We deliver evidence-based leadership development training through our girl-led Clubs, programs, and events. The Senior Associate, Development, Girl Up will be responsible for maintaining and growing the institutional donor pipeline at all phases including research/prospect identification, solicitation, and stewardship with guidance from the Senior Director, Global Philanthropy. The Senior Associate, Development reports to the Senior Director, Global Philanthropy Girl Up and is responsible for Girl Up’s institutional gift development effort, focused on maximizing and growing revenue from private foundations, public trusts, and corporate and family foundations to realize the mission, vision, and strategic imperatives of Girl Up. The annual revenue goal for this position is $500,000 in partnership with the Senior Director, Global Philanthropy.

This position can be U.S. remote.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for new business development and the stewardship and growth of a portfolio of partnerships from private foundations, public trusts, corporate and family foundations with a focus on six-figure+ multi-year gifts.
  • Build a portfolio of prospects, passionate about telling the story of Girl Up while navigating grant proposals innovatively.
  • Create and execute unique and engaging fundraising strategies with guidance to raise $500,000 annually from institutional funders with annual year-over-year growth while maintaining a current portfolio of existing funders.
  • Expand Girl Up’s network of potential funders and strategically develop new prospects by building a network of substantial external partnerships, proactive outreach, ensuring pipeline of prospects meets funding needs and goals with guidance and oversight from the Senior Director, Global Philanthropy.
  • In partnership with the Sr. Director, Global Partnership plan, execute, and engage in institutional donor and prospect cultivation meetings and events
  • Prepare fact sheets, proposals, decks, solicitations and other collateral for potential funders.
  • Lead revenue generating grant outreach, including giving from corporate, family, and large-scale foundations with guidance.
  • Manage full grant process, including drafting LOIs and proposals, through grant submission and final reporting.
  • Contribute to the measurement, evaluation, analysis and refinement of current fundraising strategies to enhance and grow sustainable revenue along with develop colleagues and leadership.
  • Manage relationships by providing customized communication and frequent opportunities for engagement, with oversight.
  • Execute stewardship activities; ensure a high-touch response rate and a high level of customer service to partners.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of Salesforce database to ensure all prospects and contributions are processed and tracked within the UNF operating procedures, extract information and prepare reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 3-5 years professional experience; including at least 2 years of fundraising and relationship management experience preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial – willing to try new approaches and refine when needed.
  • Commitment to Girl Up’s mission and core values.
  • Proven ability to reach and/or exceed an annual revenue goal in partnership with superiors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of foundation grant process, including grant writing and reporting.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service and motivation to partners.
  • Excellent teamwork and time-management skills including internal communication skills; ability to maintain a stabilizing presence when confronted with conflicting demands.
  • Proven track-record of building and maintaining relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Interest in and passion for global development and international affairs, especially regarding women and girl issues.
  • Knowledge of relationship management (CRM) systems like Salesforce.
  • Strong written communications skills with the ability to engage a wide range of individuals including high-level executives, high – net worth individuals, Executive Directors, and Foundation Boards.
  • Self-starter and ability to work across multiple departments and with a range of people.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial, fun and team oriented.
  • Commitment to fostering an anti-racist and inclusive workplace required.
  • Ability to appreciate, embrace and advance diversity and have experience working with diverse and multi-cultural populations.
